The Human Frontier Science Program (HFSP) has launched a 
hybrid open access (OA) journal called HFSP Journal. The 
journal aims to foster communication among scientists 
publishing high quality, innovative interdisciplinary 
research relating biology and the physical sciences. 
Authors can pay a fee to make research articles OA 
immediately; otherwise access is limited to subscribers for 
6 months and then free to all. Nobel laureate Torsten 
Wiesel chairs the Editorial Advisory Council. The first 
articles will appear in December 2006 and the first issue 
published in march 2007.
